A Trauma Informed Response for Professionals Mandated to Report Suspicions of Child Abuse
Child abuse is disturbing, complex and extremely difficult to investigate. How professionals react and respond to a suspected child abuse allegation will have a direct impact on the child’s recovery from the traumatic act and on the integrity of the subsequent investigation. This training is designed to give school and childcare personnel, along with medical, mental health and other mandated reporters, the tools needed to optimally respond when a child discloses or indicates that he or she may be a victim of abuse. As a result, more children will receive the help they need, in a timely and sensitive manner.
Goal of Training: Ensure best practice response in child abuse cases.
Summary:

- Provide skills, knowledge and tools to respond appropriately to disclosures or discoveries of child abuse, such as:

- Minimize discussion with the child and caregivers
- Preserve the integrity of law enforcement and CPS investigations

- 1.5 hour PowerPoint training
- Can be presented to large groups
- Facilitators represent perspectives of law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution and CAP staff
- No cost for the training
